Hello,

I’m Randy Beebe and I live at 44 Dartmouth Ave, Avondale Estates, GA.  I am running for City Commissioner this year so I’d like to tell you a little about myself.

I was born November 1951 at the Fort Bennings Army Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. My father was career military and my mother was a homemaker.  I grew up around South Atlanta. After finishing High School I enlisted in the United States Air Force.  I served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1975. I enrolled at Kennesaw State College and started working with AT&T.  Pursuing both my career and education simultaneously, I ultimately earned my Executive Masters Degree from Georgia Tech in 1999 and worked my way up from line man to the fiber optics manager for the Eastern United States.

In 2003 I retired from AT&T, bought a motor home and traveled the country for 2 years. I volunteered at State and Federal Parks as I toured the country. When my mother's health took a turn for the worse, I returned to Savannah to be closer to her.  While volunteering at a park in Savannah during this period, I met my lovely wife Stacy, who was visiting from Decatur.  We dated for two years and in May of 2008, we married and moved to Avondale Estates.

I loved this community from the beginning and I still love it today. Most of you know me from either seeing me walk my dog Maggie or from my shrimp & cheese grits at pool gatherings. I am retired but I volunteer and work part-time at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.

I would appreciate your vote as City Commissioner in November. I feel, from a residential standpoint, this is a model community, but I would like to see us simulate the success of Decatur within our business center.  I’d like fine dining, continued growth in the arts and a walking friendly environment around city center.

Sincerely,
Randy Beebe
